During the evening I had workout that we had missed out on a shirt for Tina, one of the Spanish teachers for next year. Christine was able to rush through a last minute request for a Tina shirt and a couple of blank ones. The guys at the tee shirt shop said that they should have them completed by the time we left.

The Bootleg Market
We loaded into a Jeepney and made our way down to Colon Street, the oldest street in Cebu, named after Christopher Columbus. Andy met us there and took us down to a local bootleg market where you could buy all types of designer clothes copies. Many of the copies were rather amusing, Byron was looking at shoes and comparing them to the originals. He found that there were many differences. The more expensive the items were, the closer they were to the original. Andy said that he could probably get the guys at some of the shops to manufacture the shorts that I had been holding on to since back in the day when I had lived with Dave in Holland park west.
Scotty was starting to do it a bit tough by this stage, he had been having gout attack that was slowly getting worse. It had probably been brought on due to the hot conditions and rich foods.

A relaxed afternoon
We left the bootleg market and went to a shopping centre nearby, this place was more like a rock concert, with upbeat music cranking out from the foyer of the centre. We wandered into a couple of shops before deciding we were all shopped out for the foreseeable future. Ironic really as we only had hand luggage so we were really just window shopping and couldn’t actually buy anything. Lesson learnt though, big cities often do not have a lot to offer except for shopping, I would suggest only allowing a day or two to see all of the things that a city has to offer before moving on. Mum said that she was happy to have some food and do more shopping, so she stayed at the supermarket. Scotty also decided to have food and then come back later. Byron, Christine and I hopped into a cab and made our way back to the accomodation. We ate some lunch and then had a siesta.

Halo Halo
In the evening we wandered up to the supermarket up the road to collect some supplies to make tacos for dinner. After dinner we wandered over to the food markets to collect a lychee and coconut shake. We drank our shake while we wandered over to the other food market to try chef Blake’s halo halo.
