October 2014
Now that was an intense few days, mid tax season and we were in desperate need of a few days rest and relaxation. Tiff the little champion that she is found us a fantastic beach shack for the week at North Kirra. While Tiff was relaxing and enjoying the view I took it upon myself to cram as many surf, bodyboard, cycling, running and skateboarding sessions into those few days as humanly possible. I even crammed in a stack of Chinese, Italian and Spanish study, Byron and I went so far as to catch one little old Chinese lady at Harbour Town to make talk to us.
When we weren’t out catching waves or poor unsuspecting Chinese tourists we were checking out the local surf clubs to see what awesome dishes they had on the menu and with so many surf clubs in close proximity we had no end of specials to choose from, my favorite by far would be the lamb shanks from Kirra surf club, they were amazing.

On one of our cycling adventures we finally found the world famous Snapper Rocks and then climbed the mother of hills only to discover Point Danger located at the top and another world class Surf spot.
We didn’t do all of our adventuring alone, our buddy Chad came down for at least one night and we made him walk from where we were staying over to Coolangatta and then back again, as a consolation we did pick up some gelato from a magic little gelato shop located just north of the Kirra surf club. I tried their OMG gelato which was a salted caramel covered in nutella and OMG would be the best way to describe it.
We also had an afternoon visit from Ash, Belinda, Jayden and Adam who were only too happy to jump on the bikes and head down to check out Snapper rocks, well Adam, Jayden and Paige did, Ash and Belinda kicked it on the deck of the surf shack with Tiff and I to eat crackers and Cheese which we washed down with a couple of Coronas. That was after we all ate massive burgers that Tiff cooked up for lunch, so by the time the lads arrived back from their ride we were only too happy to chuck the boards in and head back down to Currumbin for an afternoon surf session.

All in all a magic few days, I think it will be good to get back to work so I can have a bit of relax time, not sure I would be able to handle the beach life on a consistent basis and I don’t think I am the only one, Paige and Byron were looking pretty wrecked by the end of our holiday but they sure had fun.
